Thistle sage is is an annual herb native to California and Baja California. It has wooly foliage and large thistle-like flower heads. The flowers are a vibrant lavender with bright orange anthers. The foliage is pungent, with a scent similar to citronella. Although this herb resembles thistle, it's actually in the mint family and grows in southern and central California, primarily in hot, dry inland areas. It tends to grow in sandy or gravelly places and can reach up to three feet tall. Bloom time for this sage is March through June. Packet will contain 15 seeds.
